The video with Mithilesh Backpacker, YouTuber Confronts Eve Teasers Harassing His Wife in Udaipur’s City Palace, who have made inappropriate remarks, about his Russian wife, Lisa, has gone viral and the video has sparked a debate on women’s safety in India.
What Happened in Udaipur?
Mithilesh Backpacker along with his Russian Wife Lisa were in Udaipur, trying to experience the beauty of City Palace which is a place where many tourists go. As they were walking around, a group of men rudely respected them and one of them made such a controversial sentence like “6,000 INR”, which insults Russian women desperately.
Furious, Mithilesh talked to the men, presenting them with a question on the camera:
- “Who are you calling 6,000? Do you think I don’t understand?”
- “Just because my wife is Russian, you think you can say this?”
The way he reacted and the happening were caught and at once uploaded to his YouTube channel, which made the episode a trend topic.
The Controversy Around “6,000 INR”
The term “6,000 INR” was coined by some Indian comedians in imprudent jokes about Russian women, and it has got a bad meaning. Although it may appear to be not serious, this phrase here has a double meaning and is mainly about sex.
A lot of people on the internet have pointed to this issue as a country’s general problem with safety regulations for the tourists and underlined that such casual harassment is common for foreign women visiting India.

Security Response & Lack of Police Involvement
Back then, the phrase “6,000 INR” was given a positive and funny meaning that only Russians understood and this was initially spread by some Indian comedians with the song that had “six rubles, dad” for the main phrase. However, the buffs changed it a little bit to become a formidable insult to Russian women which has made its way into the general use now. But it is actually a term with a complicated context and might be different based on the people who are talking about it.
In various cases, local authorities are indifferent to violence cases and have not strict legal measures to punish the offenders, which is the reason for the repetitiveness of these kinds of offenses.
Public Reaction & Safety Concerns
This incident has created an online discussion about the safety of women in India, where numerous individuals are showing anger for the way such actions are mostly invisible.
However, the issue is not limited to just one event.
Rather, a South Korean vlogger had a terrifying confrontation on a Mumbai street during a live stream in 2022.
Then, a Spanish girl got raped by a gang in the Dumka district of Jarkhand in the year 2024
These are just a few cases that indicate the ongoing safety of foreign women in India which still remains an unsolved issue, and a stronger check on public harassment is the necessity.
Mithilesh Backpacker Speaks Out
In his interview, Mithilesh did not hide his anger when he asserted:
“I planned to use India as a model for tourism but these things keep happening and how do I defend my country?” he added.
Many of those on social media have reported backing his stance, claiming for tougher laws and immediate punishment of public harassers.
This incident in Udaipur is a wake-up call for authorities to ensure stronger protections for foreign visitors and local women.
