By 2025, Himachal Pradesh is seeking to revolutionize medical care, and its focus is to make health care more affordable and at the same time to offer state of the art treatments and the latest technology to its citizens. The Himachal pradeh Goverment has planned a massive₹1570 crore investment to modernize healthcare infrastructure. These funds shall be utilized for:
- Updating of public as well as private hospitals with high-precision medical equipment and diagnostics.
- Providing the latest platforms and healthcare infrastructure for trauma patients and other injured people.
- Upgrading 69 existing healthcare centers across the state.
- Building specialized health facilities for the critical diseases.
Every year currently, 9.5 lakh patients go out of the state to get medical treatment causing a loss of ₹1,350 crore GDP. However, the government wishes to retain patients and revenue only by strengthening the health facilities provided within the state.
Cancer Care Center in Himachal Pradesh:
Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur, has established a Cancer Care Center of Excellence (CCE) at a cost of ₹300 crore. The hospital features:
- The hospital provides 150 cancer beds to treat various types of cancer.
- Himachal’s first cyclotron facility offering the latest radiation therapy at the hospital.
- Full-scale nuclear medicine instruments.
This project will reduce the need for patients to travel to other states, offering affordable and convenient treatment without compromising quality.
