The Himachal Pradesh government has launched the Mata Shabri Mahila Sashaktikaran Yojana, a government welfare scheme to promote the empowerment of women from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). Under the scheme, 50% of the cost of an LPG gas connection is subsidized, so the women with lower income families can shift to clean and safe cooking.
Objectives of the Scheme
The main goal of this plan is to:
- Help SC/ST women to use LPG connections with the financial support provided by the government
- Make people healthier by decreasing the number of Smoke related diseases and thus, integrating the environment in the process
- Bring forward environmental conservation learnt through minimizing of firewood consumption
Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?
Women should meet the below requirements:
- Residency: You must be a local of Himachal Pradesh
- Community: You should belong to Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST)
- Income Limit: You have to be able to support full family on the income of ₹35000 annually
- New LPG Connection: Your name must not have been associated with any LPG connection already

1. Get the Application Form
Online: Download the official form from himachalforms.nic.in
Offline: Get the form from your nearest Child Development Project Officer (CDPO)
2. Provide Details
Complete the application with the following details
- Personal Information (Name, Address, Contact)
- Caste Certificate Details
- Annual Income Proof
3. Attach Required Documents
- Aadhaar Card / Voter ID (Proof of residence)
- SC/ST Certificate (For eligibility verification)
- Income Certificate (To prove income limit compliance)
4. Submit the Application
- Submit the completed form and necessary documentation to the CDPO office nearest you
- Remember the acknowledgment receipt as a reference
5. Verification & Approval
- Your documents will be verified by officials
- The gas agency will process the subsidy amount directly after approval
6. Receive LPG Connection
Once approved, the beneficiaries can always communicate with the gas agency and hence, install the LPG connection at their homes.
